Job Overview We are seeking a new Structural Inspector to join our team at Ardmore Roderick. As a Structural Inspector, you join a team of infrastructure solutions experts working to solve our client’s ever evolving project needs. This opportunity will be located in our client’s office located in Lisle, IL and will be a combination of remote, in-office and Field work. You would be a part of the Tollway’s General Engineering Consultant (GEC) staff on inspecting and reporting on their extensive inventory of bridges, retaining walls and sign structures.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in providing structural technical support and structural inspection services according to ISTHA, IDOT, and AASHTO standards
Support structural inspection of Illinois Tollway assets including bridges, retaining walls, noise walls, sightscreen walls, and overhead sign structures
Help in developing basic repair scopes and learn to use the Illinois Tollway’s Asset Management System software, a cloud-based asset management tool
Assist in performing basic design reviews, bridge calculations, and updating of the Illinois Tollway structural inspection manuals
Aid in preparing annual maintenance section reports and insurance reports
Required Qualifications
Basic understanding of structural engineering principles
5+ years of experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field, from an accredited U.S. institution
Ability to work as part of a team
Familiarity with the use of tablet technology for project documentation
Valid driver’s license
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Have a team player mindset with the ability to communicate proficiently in written and verbal forms
Have good to great organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
IDOT approved Team Leader or Program Manager
FHWA-approved comprehensive training course (e.g., NHI 130055 or 130056)

Salary Range: $85,000-105,000, Ardmore Roderick is providing the compensation range that the company believes it might pay and/or offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
