Job Overview We are seeking a new Rail Yard and Shop Construction Oversight Manager to join our team at Ardmore Roderick. As a Rail Yard and Shop Construction Oversight Manager, you will join a team of infrastructure solutions experts working to solve our client’s ever-evolving project needs. This opportunity will be located at our Program Management Office in Chicago and could have potential to be hybrid depending on the specific client, project and team needs. Key Responsibilities
Oversight of Rail Yard & Shop construction scope, schedule, budget and change management with the goal of producing a functional and financially viable installation to the required quality
Manage each stage of the project to ensure that all contractual Construction Management (CM) and General Contractor (GC) commitments are met on time and within budget
Review all contract documents to confirm CM and GC project deliverables and necessary resources required for project execution are provided through contract completion
Analyze work plans, schedules and budgets submitted for all project stages and provide comments and recommendations for consideration
Attend and participate in regular progress and coordination meetings internal to the project team as well as client facing meetings to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns
Maintain a good understanding of the project to identify scope creep and ensure the change management process is initiated when required
When scope changes occur, monitor and assist CM in negotiating solutions with the GC to ensure outcomes meet client expectations and contractual obligations
Ensure that the CM provides timely internal and external documentation and communication throughout all project phases, including developing and maintaining meeting minutes, progress records and follow-up on action items
Participate in monthly project reviews to review project status, budget, work plan, schedule and risks
Ensure that all project close-out documents are submitted and forwarded to appropriate parties upon completion of the project
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture or other relevant area of study
6 years of relevant experience in transit and rail projects using Design-Build (DB) or Design-Bid-Build (DBB) project delivery methods
Relevant transit and rail construction experience to include contract management, site observation and interaction and influence with multidiscipline stakeholders and team participants
Proficient in project website software such as Trimble Unity Construct, Procore, Bluebeam or other software packages
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Have a team player mindset with the ability to communicate proficiently in written and verbal forms
Have good to great organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree(s)
CCM or PMP certification
Professional Engineer license
10 years or more of relevant experience in US based public rail and transit industry
Known to public transit clients in Chicago, IL (i.e. Chicago Transit Authority and Metra)
Experience in rail vehicle maintenance facilities including technical reviews
Knowledge of O&M environments within transit agencies
Familiar with other disciplines typically requiring coordination with project design and installation such as Architectural, Structural, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical
Familiar with non-technical disciplines typically requiring support within projects such as procurement, security and safety assurance, quality management and others
Able to work with minimum supervision and possesses strong problem identification and resolution skills

Salary Range: $117,936-157,872, Ardmore Roderick is providing the compensation range that the company believes it might pay and/or offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
