We are seeking a new Senior Construction Manager to join our team at Ardmore Roderick. As a Senior Construction Manager, you will join a team of infrastructure solutions experts working to solve our client’s ever evolving project needs. This opportunity will be located in our Southeast Territory and could have potential to be hybrid depending on the specific client, project and team needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full lifecycle management of large-scale capital projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring alignment with client objectives, budget, schedule, safety and quality standards
- Serve as the primary client representative, providing strategic guidance, risk mitigation and executive-level reporting
- Oversee multiple concurrent projects and multidisciplinary teams, including Project Managers, inspectors, schedulers, safety officers and consultants
- Direct constructability reviews, value engineering efforts and cost estimating to optimize project delivery and minimize risk exposure
- Integrate safety-by-design and quality requirements into project planning, specifications and bid documents
- Coordinate with designers and stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory, operational, safety and quality standards
- Lead procurement processes including RFQs/RFPs, bid evaluations and contractor selection with emphasis on safety records and quality performance
- Establish contract requirements for safety programs, QA/QC plans and performance metrics
- Oversee change management, ensuring impacts to safety, quality, cost and schedule are fully evaluated
- Provide on-site leadership to ensure construction activities meet strict safety protocols, quality standards and schedule milestones
- Enforce contractor compliance with approved safety plans, site-specific health and safety programs and quality control procedures
- Coordinate with AHJs for inspections, certifications and compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Implement cost control systems including forecasting, budget tracking and financial reporting
- Oversee CPM schedule development and analysis, incorporating safety sequencing and quality hold points
- Review and approve pay applications based on verified progress, quality of work and compliance with safety standards
- Champion a zero-incident safety culture by enforcing OSHA compliance and client-specific safety requirements
- Monitor leading and lagging safety indicators, conduct audits and drive corrective actions
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis and implementation of preventive measures
- Oversee implementation of contractor QA/QC programs, including inspections, testing and documentation
- Ensure adherence to project specifications, industry standards and client quality expectations
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions and continuous improvement processes
- Identify and mitigate risks related to safety, quality, cost and schedule across all phases of the project
- Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations, as well as client policies and industry standards
- Lead dispute resolution efforts related to construction defects, safety incidents and contractual issues
- Mentor and develop staff, promoting accountability in safety and quality performance
- Lead project meetings and provide clear communication on safety metrics, quality status and project progress
- Interface with public agencies, stakeholders and executive leadership on high-visibility projects
- Oversee project closeout including final inspections, punch list resolution and verification of quality standards
- Ensure all safety documentation, as-builts, warranties and testing/commissioning records are complete
- Support transition to operations with a focus on long-term performance, safety and maintainability
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field, equivalent combination of education and progressive field experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
- 10 or more years of progressive construction management experience
- Proven experience managing large-scale commercial, infrastructure or public-sector projects
- Minimum 5 years in a senior or lead role overseeing project teams and multiple stakeholders
- Experience in pre-construction, construction administration and closeout phases
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, means and methods and sequencing
- Experience managing CM-at-Risk, Design-Bid-Build and/or Design-Build delivery methods
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, CPM schedules, change orders and cost reporting
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project or similar)
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams including contractors, consultants and inspectors
- Strong client-facing experience with public agencies, owners or developers
- Ability to prepare and deliver executive-level reports and presentations
- Proven ability to resolve conflicts, negotiate changes and manage stakeholder expectations
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and jobsite safety management practices
- Experience enforcing contractor safety programs and conducting site safety oversight
- Familiarity with quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes and documentation
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines
- Valid driver’s license (field travel required)
- Eligibility to work on public-sector projects (background checks or security clearance may be required depending on agency)
- Advanced degree(s)
- Experience on aviation construction or design centric projects
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager)
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
