Job Overview We are seeking a new MEP Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Ardmore Roderick. As a MEP Mechanical Design Engineer, you join a team of infrastructure solutions experts working to solve our client’s ever evolving project needs. This opportunity will be located in our Chicago, IL and could have potential to be hybrid depending on the specific client, project and team needs. Key Responsibilities
Design HVAC, plumbing and mechanical systems for new buildings, renovations and infrastructure upgrades
Perform load calculations using Carrier Hourly Analysis Program (HAP) or equivalent software to guide energy-efficient system designs
Develop and update MEP drawings and BIM models using Revit and AutoCAD
Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems with architectural and electrical designs
Review mechanical designs for code compliance and adherence to standards (ASHRAE, IMC, NFPA, energy codes)
Conduct field visits for installation reviews, system troubleshooting and commissioning support
Support budgeting, estimating and proposal development for mechanical system scopes
Prepare clear technical documentation and reports
Perform other duties as assigned to support project delivery
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
EIT certification
Minimum of 2 years experience in MEP mechanical engineering design
Strong working knowledge of HVAC and plumbing system design, energy efficiency and sustainability concepts
Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD
Experience with Carrier HAP or equivalent load calculation software
Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, IMC, NFPA, IECC and LEED guidelines
Experience using Bluebeam Revu for markups and collaboration
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Have a team player mindset with the ability to communicate proficiently in written and verbal forms
Have good to great organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
PE License
Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
Field experience with system installation, BAS integration, troubleshooting, or commissioning
Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud or other project collaboration platforms
Exposure to public-sector, higher ed, industrial projects or mission critical projects

Salary Range: $101,982-$124,010, Ardmore Roderick is providing the compensation range that the company believes it might pay and/or offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
